Mai in Overwatch 2 will be completely revamped by Blizzard
The change from 6v6 to 5v5 when Overwatch 2 launches will of course make Blizzard think about the best way to balance each hero. Some heroes such as Sombra and Bastion they have changed in such a way to be different. This time they will highlight Mai as the target of a total change or rework.
Mei is said to not have the ability to freeze her opponent. That's right, Mei's main weapon will not be able to do it again and change the way each player plays when playing it later. However, Blizzard said that they will make Mei have more damage than usual.
It's unclear how Blizzard will change that, but professional player Matthew “Super” DeLisi who has played the Overwatch 2 prototype explained that May will have 90 DPS with her main gun.
Mei is shown to still have the same shot but without the freeze effect as her first iteration. It didn't stop there, Super also explained that players only need to press left click on the mouse to be able to kill other player characters. Previously Mei only had melee freeze attacks and threw ice needles with her optional shot.
Overwatch 2 is currently still in development and doesn't have a release date yet.
